  5. The IRIX 6.5 Applications CD, August 1999 is a companion to IRIX 6.5.5.
  6. This CD contains the IRIX Desktop and various desktop applications.  It 
  7. replaces all previous IRIX 6.5 Applications CDs (June 1998, November 1998, 
  8. February 1999 and May 1999).
  9.  
  10. Application upgrades shipped with IRIX release are either Full images or 
  11. Overlays.  Updates to Full images are found on the Applications CD whereas 
  12. updated Overlays are found on the IRIX 6.5.5 Overlays, August 1999 CD. To 
  13. install the new versions of Overlay applications you must install IRIX 6.5.5.

  47.     Desktop Applications.

  49. Important Notes About the Products
  50. ----------------------------------
  51. If you want to use CosmoPlayer 1.1 to view VRML worlds, do not use Netscape 
  52. 4.5. Netscape 4.07 works with CosmoPlayer 1.1; both Netscape 4.07 and 
  53. CosmoPlayer 1.1 are shipped on the IRIX Applications 6.5, February 1999 CD. 
  54. Netscape 4.5 or later requires CosmoPlayer 2.1, which was released with 
  55. IRIX 6.5.4.
  56.  
  57. Netscape Communicator Client 4.61 is part of the default distribution
  58. on this CD. Customers who only use the browser functionality (and
  59. not the email, newsgroups, etc.) may prefer to install the Netscape
  60. Navigator Client (netscape_lite) 4.61. From Software Manager, open 
  61. /CDROM/dist/extras to install this product.
  62.  
  63. Netscape's FastTrack Personal Server on this CD will upgrade and replace 
  64. the original OutBox Webserver or previous versions of Netscape FastTrack 
  65. server.  Netscape Admin server is included in the Netscape FastTrack 3.03 
  66. product. You will not need to select the Netscape Admin server for 
  67. installation. 
  68. Netscape FastTrack will work with OutBox and needs no special configuration.

  70. Release Notes
  71. -------------
  72. If you choose to read the release notes for products before installing 
  73. new products, you can now view the release notes easily from Software Manager.  
  74. From the desktop Toolchest choose System, then Software Manager.  This
  75. will bring up the Software Manager window.  Choose to Customize Installation
  76. but typing /CDROM/dist into the Available Software box.  A list of products 
  77. available for installation will come up.  If the product name is highlighted 
  78. (similar to an HTML link) then there are Release Notes available.  Simply click on the link to bring up the Release Notes window.
